The Republic of Uganda, located in Eastern Africa, is a landlocked country. Agriculture is the most significant sector of Uganda's economy and it employs more than 80% of the labor force. Coffee generates the bulk of export revenues. Crops grown are coffee, tea, cotton, tobacco, corn (maize), millet, beans, sorghum, cassava, sweet potatoes, plantains, peanuts (groundnuts), soybeans, and vegetables like carrots, onions, cabbages, greens, tomatoes and numerous peppers. Livestock are raised in the country, including cattle, experimental cross-breeds, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens and turkeys. |
